Objectives:

  • After completing this lesson, the student will have demonstrated several key tasks satellite housekeeping operations, including satellite power management, satellite sensor calibrations and satellite momentum management.

  • Demonstrate recognizing the power state of the satellite and reacting to situations outside of expectations

  • Demonstrate managing battery state of charge (SOC)/depth of discharge (DOD)

  • Demonstrate the use “load shedding” to provide satellite power management

  • Identify the operational impact of needing to manage battery duty cycle

  • Demonstrate the calibration of satellite sensors

  • Identify the need for and implications of momentum management as part of routine operations

  • Demonstrate the process for momentum dumping from momentum/reaction wheels (desaturation)
